New Member Upcoming Events and Dates

 

Welcome to the RBHS Music program!  We are very excited to have your family join our program and hope to make the transition into high school as smooth as possible.  Information is always available on our website at www.rbmusic.org and through this parent email list serve.  If you know of anyone who did not receive this email, please tell them to contact Mr. Otani at dotani@powayusd.com


2018 Royal Regiment Registration


May 19 & June 2 ~ 9am-12pm

June 19 & 20 ~ 6pm-8pm

  • Registration will take place in the RBHS Music Building(behind the PAC)
  • You may register at any of the registration dates above
  • At band registration, you will be able to:
    • Turn in emergency forms, travel forms and all other district forms
    • Order band camp lunches(optional)
    • Sign up for a uniform fitting
    • Royal Regiment merchandise will be available for sale

Spring New Member Camp


June 19-21 ~ 6-8pm

  • This practice will help prepare new students for marching band.
    • We will introduce marching basics and begin working on music for the fall program.
  • Students will have a chance to meet their section leaders.
  • Students should bring their instrumentsmouthpieces, and water
  • All students should wear comfortable athletic shoes and clothes for marching.
Please contact Mr. Otani (dotani@powayusd.com), if you are not able to attend.

Drumline Workshops/Audition:


  • May 22, May 24, May 29, May 31, and June 5 
  • 3:30 to 5:00(2:30 for current high school students)
  • Practice will be held after school at RBHS to train all percussion students interested in auditioning in the RBHS drumline.
  • The audition is only open to students who play percussion in middle school band.
  • We will set preliminary drumline placements in June and finalize drumline placement during the fall band camp.

Summer Sectionals 


Over the course of summer, each section will meet with their section leaders to practice and get to know each other.  Your child’s section leader will set up a time and place that works best for the section.  The sections leaders are the finest students in our program and will play the role of a “big brother/sister” and mentor for your child.  They will be able to help your child with music, marching, and any questions or concerns.

2018 Royal Regiment Camp

Band Camp for the 2
018 marching band season will run from August 6-10, and August 13-17.  There will be an end of camp performance and parent potluck meeting on Friday night, August 17, to demonstrate what was taught at band camp.  Camp times and details will be sent out as the date approaches.  You may also find times for each day listed on our calendar at www.rbmusic.org.

*Note - Students will spend a large portion of the day at school for training during band camp but will not actually "camp" or stay overnight at school.

How do I find a schedule for an upcoming performance?

If you would like a detailed itinerary, click on the calendar link on our home page.  Once you are on our program calendar, select the date that you would like information for.  Once you select a date, there will be a pop up screen with a link to "more details."  After selecting "more details," a pop up screen will appear with event details and link to the attached pdf with detailed itinerary.
